Sarah Update!

Lots of gymming last couple of weeks and over the weekend! And I mean a lot of gymming... (No idea which was on what date as it's got to the point where it all rolls in to one haha!)

(Insert photo of Fitbit that I forgot to take saying 7.8km)

Although just to have a change, had a lovely walk on Saturday morning last week around a beautiful National Trust park in the sun! There was 4 of us and we did 4.5 miles so in total there was 18 miles walked!

TOTAL: 64 MILES (so that explains the falling asleep by 9pm each night and trying not to fall asleep behind my desk!)

GRAND TOTAL: 394 MILES!

Don't forget...

Luke Update

January Update

As we near the first month of the challenge I think me and Sarah can both say we are overwhelmed with the amount of support that we have received with miles donations and sponsors. With the total at just over 300 miles (314.73 to be precise) in the first month is a great effort. So a massive thank you!

On Sunday myself and Emma took a walk round Wollaton Park. To say how far we walked we actually thought we did a lot more, however every mile makes a difference to the challenge

4.40 miles done between us.

Emma's walk today on her day off racked up another 3.16 miles in a impressive time to say the least...

...to then come on an evening walk with me! Hats off to here after picking up a blister on her heel after her afternoon walk. So this was classed more as an evening hobble then a walk!

7.26 miles between us

TOTAL 14.82

Grand Total: 329.55

Donated Miles So Far!

Thank you to everyone who has been donating miles over the last few weeks - we've already added some into last week's totaliser however we've had a lot more again this week so thought we'd take the opportunity to say thank you! :)

First up, thank you to Laura & Alex who had a country walk around Daventry and Anneka & Ashley who did a lot of shopping around Liverpool who's miles were included in last week's totals!

This week we had Sarah's old classmate and good friend April who did 9 miles and her friend Charlotte who did 5 too!!

This week fellow Shrewsbuarian Annie took on a spin class for us which on average according to Google is 10 miles!

Kara, who has also had Bone Cancer, has been swimming for us over the last couple of weeks and has so far racked up 2.25 miles which is 110 lengths of her pool! Fantastic work Kara!

Luke's Step Sister Michelle has had her trainers out running and has done 2.06 miles to add to our total!

Finally this week, and definitely the biggest thank you so far goes to Oscar, Luke's colleague who did a whopping 85... yes, EIGHTY FIVE (.42) MILES! Definitely put us both to shame!

DONATED TOTAL: 112.73 MILES
GRAND TOTAL SO FAR: 314.73

Thank you again to everyone and don't forget you can donate your miles by sending a gym selfie and how many miles you've done either on Twitter, Facebook or email - our legs appreciate any miles!

Don't forget to follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook pages to keep up with our progress either daily or whenever we hit the gym!

Update of Miles from Luke (finally) 62.64 miles, including donations

Well a Happy New Year first of all!

Certainly didn't feel like 6 months ago since myself and Sarah first decided to start this epic 3000 Mile challenge for Bone Cancer Research Trust

However it's here and we are now well into this Challenge!

The Challenge for me started quite slow as with the Challenge I intend to do most of the miles by push bike which is in the pipeline of being sorted.

Firstly we had 4.2 miles donated to us by Lee Martin and Lauren Ellis, massive thank you!

Myself and Emma took a nice walk to start the year off (admittedly a week late) but with her wanting to ensure her miles were included due to work commitments we did 4.28 miles on a cool evening (8.56 miles)

As shown in the pictures the app (Steps Pedometer) I use to track miles also tracks steps taken, calories and the time taken, remember the challenge is a marathon not a 100m sprint!! Over the week again between myself and Emma we did 18.6 miles

Finally on a 3.68 mile run this week I sported the BCRT running vest provided to us to promote who we are doing this challenge for as well as showing our support for Team Bones.

Also a mention to the mother (Joanna Beaumont) who has clocked up 1 mile through swimming. Aiming for a mile a week to knock off our target! Massive thank you!

Donated miles:

Massive thank you to Nabeela Ahmed who works at Domestic and General with myself who donated her kilometres (converted to miles) 26.6 miles

So as we enter the third week of January after seeing the tremendous start by Sarah the weekly target set by ourselves each needs to be met to ensure we keep on top of the countdown. With all donations making a massive difference. Huge thank you to those that have already donated and to those wanting to, all we need is a photo of your miles and we will update the countdown!

Signing out until next time

Luke x

Sarah Update: Week 3

Tuesday 13th - Sunday 18th January

Considering how tired I was and the pain I was in on Tuesday, and having 3 days not doing anything, I still managed to rattle up more than I realised this week. I've tried to do a couple of laps of the big car park at work on my lunch to get some fresh air and to rack up a few miles.. think I managed to do 4 miles across the week.

Didn't do anything Tues or Weds but on Thursday I did bit of walking around Chester on my lunch with a 20 minute short but sweet gym session in the evening!

Friday was another Gym session on the Wave Machine! As was Sunday (today)!

Saturday was a bit of a fail.. there was someone on the Wave Machine so I hit the cross trainer as it was  a bit more help on the fitness/weight loss side of things but the milage was a bit pants! So I did a bit on the cross trainer as well as about 20 mins power walking on the treadmill!

THIS WEEK'S TOTAL: 27 MILES
SARAH'S TOTAL SO FAR: 62 MILES

Sarah Update: Week 2

5-12 January

So after a bit of a quiet first few days, I definitely had to step it up in the 2nd week! Admittedly, I've not been jogging again as a) I'm rubbish, b) it's been windy, wet and horrible and c) I'd be running for hours on end if I wanted to do all 28 miles (average we need to do a week) by running!

However, I've discovered Body Combat! I've never done this before so didn't know what to expect.. oh my days, I nearly puked after the warm up alone! It was definitely a challenge but I actually really enjoyed it and have actually been twice in 3 days. It's a great way to do 5000+ steps in the space of an hour!

I've done the classes and hit "the bum wobbler" a couple of times too as again, if you stay concentrated and just breathe through the pain, I can wrack up to 10-15km in about an hour (maybe a bit longer if I get distracted by mahjong on the gym machine!)

I'm definitely starting to hurt today and didn't really realise how much I'd done in such a short space of time until I just added it all up and sorted the photos out for this post - most of this weeks miles for me were done over this weekend as I didn't have anything else to do so I spent most of it in the gym and then again at Combat tonight!

THIS WEEK'S TOTAL: 25
TOTAL ALTOGETHER: 35

Don't forget that you can (and please do as my ankle hurts and I've pulled a stomach muscle.. ) get involved and "donate your miles" by emailing us at the address below with a gym/running/combat selfie and how many miles you've done! Easy peasy - get your trainers on!

Sarah: Week 1

So, this is it! We've left the start line and we're a few days into the New Year!

January 1st:
Started of the year relatively hangover-free so a gym session was in order for the first time in about 3 weeks.. slightly painful but good to be back and with new gym clothes to keep me motivated!

17 minutes and 1 mile on the treadmill with a 2kg dumbell in each hand to kick things off with!

Another mile complete on (what I think is called) the Wave Machine... definitely one of my favs for fast calorie burnings!

January 2nd:
It's amazing how many miles a girl can walk without realising it when shopping! Another 4 and a bit miles! (My FitBit is a nightmare as it's in KM not miles!)

January 3rd
Lazy day apart from a trip to a couple of shops so only just got a mile.. think I only got that by doing the hoovering too!

January 4th:
It was super sunny so went for a run but it was so cold, only managed just over 2 and half miles in 25 minutes! Gave me a chance to crack out the BCRT running top though!

TOTAL: 9.8 MILES!

Feels so good to finally get started and we've already had people donating their miles which is great! The JustGiving page is live too so click here to donate :) Don't forget you can donate your miles - just drop us an email with a gym/running selfie, your details and how you heard about our challenge to lukeandsarahforbcrt@gmail.com
